My name is Darius King, and I began this group after reading about the (then) new 6.5 MPC [Multi-Purpose Cartridge] in an article in Special Weapons For Military & Police in June, 2006. No significant further developments of note (that I'm aware of as of May of 2007) have occurred, so we find in necessary to move on to bigger and better things. I had been considering the purchase of either a 6.5mm Grendel or a 6.8mm SPC AR-15, and had been frustrated by the high cost of doing so, and the lack of availability of ammunition for these rifles. I also have been looking at other designs/configurations, such as the Robinson Arms rifle, and the to-be-released SIG rifle, as well as the exciting Masada concept from Magpul, due sometime in 2008. Ruger promised a 6.8 Mini-14 was coming at the 2007 Florida S.H.O.T. Show, which would be the only stainless steel rifle offered as yet in that caliber. The rifle/bullet situation has changed considerably since 2006, with several companies now making ammunition or complete rifles available in 6.8 SPC or 6.5 Grendel; Silver State Armory being primary on the 6.8 [ammunition] front, and Wolf in Grendel/6.5 [ammo]. A new weapon platform was also announced by Knight's Armament Company [KAC], a PDF using a 6x35mm cartridge. Last but not least, let's not forget our fellow enthusiasts who shoot bolt-action rifles in 6mm + configurations, and I'm sure there are some that I've either forgotten, or am not aware of as yet. Let yourself be heard, or forever hold your (sic)  piece!

Actually, this is an opportunity in that it allows us to broaden our base to include all those who shoot (or are interested in) a 6mm-based rifle or PDF [Personal Defense Weapon].
